The table is set using real china, glass and cutlery which is a sophisticated setting for older kids. Younger kids will feel just as stylish with a setting of gold coloured paper or plastic plates and contrasting cutlery. Style the room by hanging fairy lights in front of sheer red fabric, tie big glitzy bows and metallic coloured balloons to the back of chairs.

Kids Party Activities

Kids will go mad over an at home beauty salon Engage the help of a creative teenager or friend to help with makeovers and hairstyles for each guest, or get the guests to makeover each other. Make sure you have small towels to put over the ‘Clients’ shoulders, just like at the hairdresser if you have a digital camera, you can take before and after shots.

If possible, set up a big mirror with a small desk and chair to create a salon look in you own home. Have lots of makeup, plenty of cotton balls and hairspray at hand. Make sure you dip the combs and hairbrushes in a disinfectant solutions in between each child.

If you have pnety of magazines for the kids to look at while they are waiting for their turn, this will help prevent any un-glamorous misbehaviour. After the girls have had their makeup and hair done, show them their “before” and “after” shots that they can take home. Kids are sure to have fun comparing their new glamorous looks.

Dress-Ups

Kids party theme ideas for girlsHave a big box filled with glittery vests, faux-furs and feathers and plenty of “bling”. If you have the time, scouring the aisles of op=shops should provide you with suitable treasures.

There are party shops and discount stores galore that stock cheap packs of feather boas, glitter, hair accessories, faux pearls, bangles and other jewellery and paper tiaras or hats. These cheap accessories can also be added to their take-home treats.

While there are plenty of cheap decorated boxes available, you can make your own by covering a large box in a suitably glamorous paper. Or spray-paint gold and old chest and watch their faces as they discover the treasures hidden within.

After the girls have finished their makeovers and dress-ups, hold a fashion show. You can award prizes for the “best dressed” or “best model”, if you like.
